FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions about Coaching

  • "What is professional life coaching?"

Professional life coaching integrates a goal-oriented framework with evidence-based behavioral and cognitive insights. It focuses on using research-backed concepts from behavioral science to help you understand your thoughts, behaviours, and patterns - and then applying that insight to create meaningful, lasting change in your personal and professional life.

It is not therapy and does not replace mental health care.

  • "What kind of challenges do you work with?"

I work with a wide range of personal and professional growth areas, always within the scope of coaching. Common examples include building confidence and self-efficacy, establishing healthy boundaries, managing stress and resilience, improving communication, navigating transitions, overcoming mental hurdles, and creating effective habits. Many clients come to me with a mix of goals, and we work together to create a plan that is tailored to their unique needs and aspirations.

  • "Will I walk away with both tools and self-awareness?"

Absolutely. My sessions are not just about talking through challenges—they’re also about understanding the “why” behind your thoughts and actions. I combine practical, actionable tools with an understanding of your patterns so you leave each session equipped to make immediate changes and with the clarity to create effective long-term habits.

  • "Can I access your services even if I am not based in Namibia?"

Yes. My coaching services are offered internationally and remain within the ethical scope of non-clinical personal development and wellness coaching. Clients are responsible for ensuring suitability of coaching services in their own country.

  • "What do you mean by “behavioural and cognitive insights”?"

In my coaching, these insights refer to the use of evidence-based concepts from behavioral science - such as mindset patterns, cognitive frameworks, and habit formation. Applied in a professional coaching context, these insights help you better understand your internal strategies and make intentional changes. This approach focuses on personal and professional development. It does not imply therapy, diagnosis, or clinical treatment.

  • "What’s the difference between coaching and therapy?"

Coaching is forward-focused, non-clinical, and designed to help you work toward personal or professional goals, build skills, and develop self-awareness. Therapy is a mental health service that focuses on diagnosing, treating, and working through mental health conditions or significant emotional distress.

If, during our work, we identify that you may benefit from therapy, I will refer you to a licensed mental health professional.

  • "Are you a registered psychologist or counsellor?"

No. I am a Professional Life Coach, not a registered psychologist or counsellor. I hold a BSocSci Honours in Psychology (BPsych Equivalent), which included extensive practical training in human behavior.

While my coaching is grounded in this high-level academic and practical background, I do not practice in a clinical capacity. My work is strictly focused on non-clinical coaching -helping you bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be through behavioral and cognitive strategy.

  • "Do you diagnose or treat mental health conditions?"

No. I do not diagnose, treat, or provide medical advice. If you need support for a mental health condition, I can help connect you to qualified professionals in your area.

  • "Are your sessions covered by medical aid?"

No. Since this is not a medical service, I do not work with medical aids. However, I try to keep my rates competitive and suitable for all and I am always happy to discuss budgeting plans with you to meet your needs.
